Our organic broccoli seeds</B are from the broccoletto (brassica rapa sylvestris), a type of ancient broccoli that is popular in Italy.
Broccoli seed are so versatile in the kitchen - in salads, quark, smoothies, ground or sprouted and added to sandwiches - your imagination is your only limit.
If you want to sprout the seeds: Wash the seeds and leave them in the dark to germinate for at least one day. Broccoli seeds sprout in the dark, so should be kept out of the light. You should then rinse the seeds with clean tepid water twice a day. Make sure theyâ€™re warm enough (21 to 25 degrees). You can use a sprouting tin with sieve or just a small tea leaf sieve. You can also use a cress tub. It is important to ensure that the seeds are always moist and get enough oxygen. But donâ€™t leave them a pool of water.
You can and should enjoy the sprouts after around 1-3days (depending on temperature). Donâ€™t let the broccoli sprouts grow any longer, and use before felt-like roots form. The ideal size for the sprouts is just 1-3 mm.
